TROY, N.Y. – A school-record 28 Union College student-athletes were recognized for academic success by earning spots on the Liberty League Winter All-Academic Teams, the conference announced on Thursday.

The Liberty League’s winter championship sports include men’s and women’s basketball, swimming & diving and squash. To be recognized as a member of the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, have a year of residence on campus, and achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30, mirroring the criteria for CoSIDA Academic All-America awards.

Nearly half (13) of Union’s honorees are repeat selections to the All-Academic Team, while five seniors were selected for the maximum third straight season. The women’s basketball and women’s swimming & diving teams led all winter sports with nine selections each, followed by the men’s swimming and diving team with seven honorees and men’s basketball with three. The 28 honorees broke the previous winter record of 20, first set in 2013-14 and matched in 2017-18.
