ARITON, Ala. (WDHN)—Ariton School has the honor of having one of the state’s top 12 schools. The state superintendent, Dr. Eric Mackey, along with
state school board members were on hand. It was definitely a “Highlight” for the
town of Ariton.

Ariton Mayor David Walsh is also the pastor at the town’s First Baptist Church.

For Walsh, he credits the school’s reading success to the close-knit community. It seems folks know their neighbors, and try to help each other. For the mayor, that’s definitely true for the community of around one-thousand residents in rural Northeast Dale County.
