SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – For the seventh straight year, the Union College baseball team was recognized for academic achievement by the American Baseball Coaches Association with the 2021-22 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, the American Baseball Coaches Association announced last week.

The Dutchmen are one of 158 teams in Division III to earn the prestigious national honor, as well as one of only 20 D-III programs to earn the honor in all six years it has been awarded by the ABCA. To be recognized, all student-athletes who used or would have used a season of eligibility must combine for a minimum team GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale during the entire academic year.

Led by head coach Paul Mound, Union once again easily surpassed the minimum GPA standard again this season, including a team GPA of over 3.2 during the spring trimester. Ten members of the team earned Liberty League All-Academic Team honors this year, while Jack DiNanno ’22 earned CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition – the program’s 14th honor in the last 12 years.
