SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State men’s and women’s golf had four Bison student-athletes named to the Summit League All-Academic Golf Teams Thursday afternoon, announced the league office.
Lexi Geolat and Leah Skaar were named to the women’s team, while Nate Deziel and Jack Johnson were named to the men’s team.
Geolat earned Summit League All-Academic Team honors for the second in her career after registering a 3.89 GPA as an undergraduate this year. She also graduated in May with a 3.90 GPA in biological sciences. Geolat posted a 77.33 average over 27 rounds this season. The Lake City, Minn., finished her career with a 78.73 over five seasons, which ranks ninth in NDSU history.
Skaar was named to the Summit League All-Academic Team for the first time in her career and boasts a 4.0 GPA in leisure and recreational activities. She notched a team-best 76.50 average this season and posted a team-high four top 10 finishes. The Gold Canyon, Ariz., native was also named to the All-Summit League Second Team earlier this season.
Deziel earns his first Summit League All-Academic Team honor, holding a 3.745 GPA in business, while claiming the Summit League Championship MVP honor after winning the tournament by five shots and setting several Summit League and NDSU golf records. Deziel had a team-best 72.67 scoring average this season and recorded three top 10 finishes. The East Grand Forks, Minn. native was also named to the All-Summit League First Team in 2021, as well as scooping up Summit League Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence honors last season.
Johnson also scoops up his first Summit League All-Academic Team honor after a season that included Second Team All-summit League honors and a 3.867 GPA in Engineering. Johnson earned his second all-league honor after posting a 73.29 scoring average this season, playing in all 31 rounds. Johnson claimed one victory and fired a season low 66 (-6) to go along with four top 10 finishes.
Student-athletes are nominated by their respective sports information directors (SIDs) and then voted on by a panel composed of faculty athletics representatives from each university and SIDs.
In order to be considered for the academic all-league golf team, a student-athlete: must have at least a 3.3 cumulative career grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale); must have completed at least one full academic year (two semesters, three quarters) at the current institution; and must have participated in 50 percent of their team’s completed competitions.
