LEXINGTON, Ky. — For the 11th consecutive season, the UNI volleyball team has earned the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and American Volleyball Coaches Associations (AVCA) Team Academic Award, recognizing student-athletes academic success during the 2021-22 season. Additionally, the Panthers also earned special honor roll distinction for representing the top 20% of team grade-point averages among Division I programs.

“I am so proud of the work our student-athletes have done both on and off the court, and this award for the 11th consecutive year is a great recognition of that work in the classroom” said head coach Bobbi Petersen. “It is obvious that our student-athletes value academics and push each other academically. The culture our team has worked hard to intentionally create definitely involves excellence and effort in the classroom.”

UNI has now earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award 13 times under Coach Petersen. The 2021-22 Panthers finished the academic year with a 3.69 cumulative grade point average.

The award, first handed out during the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball programs at both the collegiate and high school level that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.
