Chapman University athletes recently set a school record as 281 earned All-Academic honors from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

Honorees finished the school year with a 3.4 GPA or higher. The number of All-Academics is 22 more than last year’s total, which also broke a school record.

“I am incredibly proud of the successes of our student-athletes in the classroom last year,” says Chapman Director of Athletics Terry Boesel. “Our tremendous student-athletes truly embody what Division III is all about. The passion they have for their sport and their education is evident when you look at the success we enjoyed both athletically and academically. The hard work and dedication of our student-athletes is unmatched and continues to amaze me year after year.”

Chapman had 299 athletes on the All-Academic team – 18 received the honor in more than one sport. More than 50% of Chapman’s athletes made the list.

The women’s cross country team had the most people on the list, with 85 percent of its roster named All-Academics. Women’s teams accounted for almost 70% of Chapman’s athletes on the list.

Chapman’s 299 honorees were the third-most in the SCIAC. More than 30 had higher than a 3.9 GPA.

All of Chapman’s athletes finished the 2021-2022 school year with a 3.44 combined GPA. Argyros School of Business and Economics had the most SCIAC All-Academic athletes, with 120. Crean College of Health and Behavioral Sciences was next with 49.
