ELON, N.C. – The Elon University softball program was honored as an Easton/NFCA Top 10 Academic Team for the 2021-22 academic year as announced by the NFCA on Monday afternoon, Aug. 1.
 
The Phoenix posted a program-best cumulative team GPA of 3.682 during this past academic season. Elon finished tied for seventh nation among Division I schools.
 
“This is a great honor for our program, the university and the CAA,” said Elon head coach Kathy Bocock. “I am so proud of our team and their hard work this year on the field and in the classroom on their remarkable GPA and it has paid off for them. Our student-athletes take great pride in their academics and in the game of softball so for them to receive this high academic award and be seventh in Division I is a great accomplishment.”
 
The NFCA also announced that over 7,500 student-athletes were named 2021-22 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes. The Phoenix had 16 of its 22-person roster from last season honored including Bella Backer, Isley Duggins, Allie Eith, Keagan Goldwait, Megan Grant, Chloe Hatzopoulos, Katie Hoover, Kaitlin King, McKenna McCard, Raelyn McGarry, Drew Menscer, Rebecca Murray, Alexa Nemeth, Gabi Schaal, Kaitlyn Wells and Megan White.
 
“My coaching staff and our program are truly blessed to have a great support staff to help with all of our success,” added Bocock. “We cannot thank the Elon professors, Cayce Crenshaw and her staff who continue to play a huge part in the success of the Elon student-athletes. I would like to give a special thank you to Cole Henderson for all his work and dedication to the team in assisting me on keeping everyone organized and on task.”
