ABCA Academic Excellence – Full List

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond baseball team was named to the 2021-22 American Baseball Coaches Association Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack, the organization announced Wednesday.

 

The Spiders were one of seven Atlantic 10 baseball programs to put together at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for the entire 2021-22 academic year.

The baseball squad also paced UR men’s squads with 24 student-athletes named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioners Honor Roll this year. Student-athletes competing in A-10 sponsored sports have to achieve at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA to receive the accolade. Senior pitcher Brenden Argomaniz (Claremont, Calif.) was named to the A-10 All-Academic Team and the University of Richmond President’s Citation as the male student-athlete with the highest GPA.  

 

Richmond (30-26, 11-13 A-10) finished the 2022 season with a run to the A-10 Championship Finals, winning four-straight elimination games as the seven-seed to reach the title game. The Spiders were represented by Johnny Hipsman (Chester, N.Y.), Alden Mathes (Broomall, Pa.), Jason Neff (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Dominic Toso (Philadelphia, Pa.) on the A-10 All-Tournament Team.
