RICHMOND, Va. — For the third straight year, the Richmond Spiders have been named one of the nation’s top academic teams by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) . Richmond is one of 36 Division I men’s golf teams to receive Presidents Special Recognition for posting a team GPA of 3.5 or higher during the 2021-22 school year, the GCAA announced Monday.
The Spiders, who were crowned Academic National Champions by the GCAA in 2021 for recording the highest GPA of any men’s college team, have earned Presidents Special Recognition from the GCAA in each of the last three years. UR has also been named a GCAA All-Academic Team for posting a team GPA of 3.0 or better in 11 of the last 13 years.
