The Atlantic 10 Conference released today the Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the 2021-22 academic year, with 253 GW student-athletes among the ranks.
That impressive number comes after a standout spring in which GW Athletics achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.35, with 17 of 20 teams posting at least a 3.0 combined GPA for the semester. Women’s tennis led the way with a 3.78 team GPA, followed by volleyball with a 3.55. A day before the 50th anniversary of Title IX, it’s notable that the top five team GPAs in the spring came from women’s programs. Women’s cross country and track (3.53), women’s swimming & diving (3.53) and gymnastics (3.52) rounded out the top handful.
Designed to recognize excellence in the classroom, a student-athlete in an Atlantic 10-sponsored sport must have a combined fall and spring semester grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the academic year to be selected for the Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Both freshmen and graduate students are eligible to receive the award.
The Atlantic 10 Conference announced Wednesday that a remarkable 3,556 student-athletes received Commissioner’s Honor Roll distinction for 2021-22. This is the third-highest mark in league history and is the third year in a row the total number of honorees has topped 3,500.
