CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) released its 2021-22 WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Awards on Wednesday and Washington and Lee was among the women’s collegiate golf programs that was honored.
The award recognizes the programs with the highest collective team grade-point averages, which include all of the teams’ student-athletes for the 2021-22 season.
Washington and Lee finished 14th among all Division III women’s collegiate golf programs with a 3.686 team GPA. Benedictine University led the Division III schools with a 3.866 team GPA, while Division I University of New Mexico recorded the highest overall GPA with a 3.961.
Four individual members of the W&L women’s golf team were honored with the WGCA All-America Scholar Awards which was announced earlier this month. Those players included recent graduate Savannah Johnson (Owens Cross Roads, Ala. / Huntsville), rising senior Megan Kanaby (Chapel Hill, N.C. / Cardinal Gibbons) and rising sophomores Marcella Mercer (Bigfork, Mont. / Flathead) and Laetitia Roegner (Greenwich, Conn. / IMG Academy).
The Generals won their fourth consecutive conference title this season and went on to place 13th at the NCAA Division III Championship.
