Asmita Ghimire’s educational journey is marked by a deep commitment to English and technical communication. She is currently completing her PhD in Rhetoric, Scientific, and Technical Communication at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, where her research explores international and intercultural communication, global public policy, and feminist methodologies. Before her doctoral studies, she earned a Master of Arts in English Linguistics, Literature, and Writing Studies at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, focusing on narratives of World War II. Additionally, Asmita holds a Master’s in English from Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, Nepal, where she analyzed war, women’s issues, and social injustice in literature. Her academic background has equipped her with critical insights into transnational discourse, enabling her to merge rhetorical studies with a socially conscious approach, underscoring her qualifications in global rhetoric and technical communication.
Experience
Asmita Ghimire has accumulated a wealth of teaching and professional experience across multiple institutions. She currently serves as a Graduate Instructor at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, where she teaches courses in First-Year Writing and Technical Communication. Her previous roles include teaching first-year writing at the University of Texas at El Paso, where she also worked as a Writing Consultant. Earlier, Asmita was a Lecturer at Kathmandu University in Nepal, where she instructed students in composition, technical communication, and legal English. Her professional experience extends to translation and community-level training with the Red Cross Society in Nepal, where she served as a translator and training instructor for disaster management. Her work also includes research and technical communication roles, such as her position with Goosechase Gaming App, reflecting her versatility in education, research, and applied technical communication.
