Dr. Giovanni Ficarra is a dedicated scholar and athlete with a passion for Sports Science. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science from the University Pegaso di Messina in July 2018, showcasing expertise in motor evaluation methodologies. Recognized for his sporting merits, Giovanni pursued a Master’s Degree in Sport Science at the University of Messina, graduating with honors in July 2020. His master’s thesis explored “Rowing in old age evolutionary,” reflecting acute responses in sports performance markers. Currently, he is enrolled in the PhD Course in Translational Molecular Medicine and Surgery, blending academic excellence with his commitment to athletics. 🏅📚

In July 2018 he obtained a degree in Sports Science from the University Pegaso di Messina with a score of 103/110, discussing the experimental thesis in Motor evaluation methodologies, entitled “Rowing Technique and Teaching for School Students: a Theoretical-Practical Experimental Approach”. Also in 2018 he enrolled in the Master’s Degree Course in Engineering Sciences and Techniques preventive and adapted motor activities, at the University of Messina with the Student-Athlete status, recognized for his sporting merits. On 23 July 2020 he obtained his Master’s Degree with a score of 110/110 cum laude discussing with Prof Debora Di Mauro the experimental thesis entitled “Rowing in old age evolutionary: acute response of markers of sports performance”. Since 1 November 2020 he has been enrolled in the 36th cycle of the PhD Course in Translational Molecular Medicine and Surgery of the University of Messina with the status of Student-Athlete, recognized for his sporting merits.

Dr. Giovanni Ficarra’s research spans diverse domains within Sports Science and Engineering. His primary focus lies in exploring the intricate relationship between testosterone and cortisol ratios as predictors of podium success in adolescent rowing athletes. Additionally, he contributes to materials science, investigating the impact of Poisson’s ratio on samples subjected to shearing. Dr. Ficarra delves into the unique tactile experience of pressing on auxetic materials and explores drug and dietary supplement usage among Sports Science university students. Engaged in promoting adapted physical activity, he collaborates on topics like breast cancer patient rehabilitation. His work underscores a commitment to holistic health and performance. 🏋️♂️🔬
