Dr. [Name] holds a distinguished M.Sc. in Computer Vision and Robotics from the prestigious VIBOT program, involving studies at Heriot-Watt University in the UK 🇬🇧, University of Burgundy in France, and University of Girona in Spain 🇪🇸. He earned his B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from Helwan University, Egypt 🇪🇬, graduating top of his class with honors. He also spent a year at the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy in Bulgaria 🇧🇬 through the Erasmus Mundus program. 🎓🌟
Experience
During my postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Sherbrooke, Canada (09/2019 to 08/2021), I developed signal processing and machine learning tools to analyze in-bed ballistocardiogram signals for detecting abnormal cardiac events, such as arrhythmias, and abnormal breathing events like obstructive sleep apnea. 📊❤️ Since December 2019, I’ve been lecturing at the Biomedical Engineering Department, Helwan University, Egypt, teaching courses including Biomedical Signal Processing and Neural Networks. 🎓🧠 As of December 2023, I lead the Computer Science/Artificial Intelligence Programme at the University of Hertfordshire’s Faculty of Engineering, hosted by GAF Cairo, Egypt. My role includes coordinating modules and exams, and maintaining academic communication between institutions. 🌍🖥️ My previous roles include part-time instructor positions at the University of Hertfordshire and Cairo University, teaching subjects like Software Architecture and Biomedical Data Analytics. 🏫📚 Additionally, I was a postdoctoral fellow at ST Electronics-SUTD Cyber Security Laboratory, Singapore (06/2018 to 07/2019), where I worked on malware detection and network traffic anomaly analysis. 🔍💻 My research background also includes a Ph.D. in nonintrusive nocturnal remote monitoring of vital signs and a master’s internship on the automatic discrimination of retinal images, which led to a best paper award at SPIE 2015. 🏆🔬
Awards
During the years 2015 to 2018, I received the A*STAR Research Attachment Program (ARAP) Grant 🌟, coordinated by the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) in Singapore and the Institute Mines-Telecom in France. In 2016, I secured the Alexandra Health Enabling Grant (AHEG1606) for a project at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in Singapore 🏥, focused on developing a novel unobstructed mattress sensor to detect obstructive sleep apnea 😴. I won the Robert F. Wagner All-Conference Best Student Paper Award in 2015 📜 for my paper on retinal image discrimination. I was also a recipient of the Erasmus Mundus Grant in Computer Vision and Robotics (2012-2014) 🤖, coordinated by three European universities. Earlier, I won the Young Innovator’s Award in 2010 🏆 for my graduation project, and from 2007 to 2008, I held an undergraduate scholarship through the Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window 🎓, coordinated by the University of Chemical Technology’s biotechnology engineering department.
